About Great Expectations
The Great Expectations Program for High-Potential Teenagers (GET) is a unique college and career readiness process that puts the building of 10 critically-important life and leadership skills on a par with every other major subject during middle school and high school. Delivered on local school premises by just one local faculty member, the
process was designed by a cooperating group of executives,
university professors and best-selling business authors led by
Dr. Franklin C. Ashby and Dr. Arthur R. Pell.

Over 4 million people in 85 countries have participated in leadership programs designed or directed by Drs. Ashby and Pell, including managers and executives from all of the Fortune 500.

Great Expectations brings proper balance to the acquiring of critical
knowledge and the acquiring of critical skills from the start of Grade 6 to the end of Grade 12. It helps align the results of an American secondary education with the needs of American business and American higher education. And it gives teenagers the tools they
need to thrive in college and the world of work - -
the tools valued MOST by corporate hiring officials and college admissions officials today - - before they finish high school and before important
decisions about college and a career path are made.

Based on feedback from over 3,000 Fortune 500 executives, small business owners, university professors and college admissions officials, Great Expectations is grounded in the time-tested content and training techniques at the world's best corporate universities. Equally valuable
to students from all backgrounds and all ability levels, it does for
college and career-bound teenagers what
America's 100 Best Companies do for their top managers and executives - - just
ten-times more comprehensively in most cases, twenty years
earlier in life and for a tiny fraction of the usual price.

The average growth and improvement rate achieved by Great Expectations graduates is about three-times the national average for adults. In addition, Great Expectations is the only process of its type shown to consistently
raise student grades, aspirations and commitments to higher education, while markedly strengthening school cultures and lowering teen bullying rates, teen drop-out
rates and teen delinquency rates.

The Great Expectations process begins with a 24-session "core" sequence typically delivered over a 12-week period, followed by two unique reinforcement phases,
Embed and Encore, that solidify new skills and convert them to new habits. The combining of these three essential elements into one seamless training process is what gives Great Expectations its remarkable impact, and enables it to generate
a result of unprecedented long-term value to participants.

Great Expectations is measurable at five levels:
satisfaction, learning, application, impact and return-on-investment. Its courseware is sold to accredited secondary schools and recognized youth organizations only, and includes the possibility of between 3 and 9 college credits per graduate. Students beginning the core process in the 6th grade and participating in 2 hours per week of reinforcement training will accumulate 600 hours of world-class college and career readiness training by the time they graduate from high school - - or about
10-times more than the nearest adult competitors to Great
Expectations and about 20-times more than the average of
all publicly-available college and career readiness processes.

The cost of the complete, multi-year Great Expectations process is estimated at $75 per student per year, including all materials and the cost of local instruction. That's less than 1% of the yearly investment made by most public school systems in their secondary school students, and a miniscule fraction of the $40,000 average cost (per person) of similar programs by Dr. Ashby at leading universities and executive training centers. Research also suggests that many public schools should be able to offer the entire process to all eligible students via
existing school resources, and without any added
expense to taxpayers, parents or anyone else.

Ashby Learning Systems is confident that Great Expectations is the best, most results-producing college and career readiness process in the marketplace today, and an ideal way to strengthen American schools and help assure the global competitiveness of American teenagers and the next generation of American workers.

If you believe a world-class college and career readiness process by private-sector experts will give your teen, local secondary school or local youth organization an important competitive edge, we invite

Excerpt from Speech by Frank Ashby to the Education Advisory Board of U.S. Representative Timothy Bishop
October 2009

"American kids don't need more education. What
they need is a
more relevant education.

One that's tied much more to the needs and expectations of American business and the American higher education community.

And one that gives them both the
knowledge they need and the skills they need to do well after high school no matter what their path in life.

That's where the focus needs to be in my opinion."
