The 2 Reinforcement Phases
The Great Expectations core program provides the essential elements of the 10 focus
areas of the process, each of which is then fortified and built-upon during the two
optional but highly recommended reinforcement phases, Encore and Embed.
LCG believes that the combining of these three component pieces into one seamless
training process results in the single most comprehensive and results-producing
leadership training program for teenagers in the marketplace today.
THE EMBED REINFORCEMENT PHASE
To embed something means to fix it in place in some lasting way, much like a steel beam
is embedded in a cement foundation or a diamond is embedded in a piece of fine
jewelry. We use the word embed to describe the series of optional, but highly
recommended (post-graduate) training modules used to reinforce the skills developed by
students during the "core" portion of the Great Expectations process. Embed training
modules are typically two-hours in length and can involve 100-200, or more, core
program graduates from any number of core program classes. Most modules are
scheduled in advance on a weekly or bi-weekly basis throughout the school year and
cover a variety of topics related to the 10 focus areas of the core program.
There is no limit to the number of Embed reinforcement meetings that may be offered
each year by participating schools and youth organizations, and no additional charges of
any kind. Only one faculty member per meeting is needed, regardless of the number of
participants. Great Expectations graduates are encouraged to attend Embed
reinforcement modules for as long as they are registered in their school or school district.
THE ENCORE REINFORCEMENT PHASE
The word encore' has French origins and means to repeat something or to do something
again. And that's exactly what we mean when we use it to describe the second part of the
Great Expectations reinforcement process.
There are very few (if any) top-quality leadership training providers today that allow
graduates to take their comprehensive training programs a second time without charge.
It's just too expensive an offer. But that's not the case here. In fact, once teenagers
graduate from the Great Expectations core program they're not only allowed to take the
24-session program again at any time while enrolled in their school or school district, but
actually encouraged to do so. Why? Because we know that the more practice and
exposure teenagers get to the principles and other lessons a part of the core program the
better they get at using them.
And the better they get at using them, the more they keep developing as truly first-class
people and leaders.
The Leadership Capital Group LLC places no restrictions on the re-taking of the Great
Expectations core program by qualified graduates, but some schools and youth
organizations may find it necessary to establish local policies. Those interested in more
details are asked to contact their local school or youth organization representative(s).

LIKE A QUALITY EDUCATION, QUALITY
SKILL-BUILDING TAKES TIME
Nobody can develop a world-class set of
leadership skills in a few days of training, just
as no one can learn to play the piano like
Vladimir Horowitz or dance like Michael
Flatley in a few lessons.
It's just not possible.
American secondary students invest about
800 hours of classroom time and homework
time in each major subject area from the
beginning of Grade 7 to the end of Grade 12.
Doesn't it make sense to invest at least that
much in the building of critical life and
leadership skills?
